We are celebrating 5 years of tilly-miss, in this time we are finding it hard to
calculate how many golf balls have been sold, how many golf balls have been found,
and how many have been washed by hand, all in a good cause, as tilly-miss is in
prime condition and loves nothing more than the freedom of the woodlands that surround
the golf courses we visit.
365 days in all weathers we go about finding the golf ball so many golfers loose,
for tilly-miss it is an adventure, deep in to the undergrowth she will go, in to
the hedgerows that are covered in prickles and thorns, no fear tilly is here.
It truly amazes me to watch tilly go to work, with all the leaves fallen from the
trees and swept quite high against fences, tilly goes in and soon she will poke
her nose here and a paw there and the next thing out she comes with usually a lovely
pro v ball, what guides her to the ball is a mystery, is there a scent on the Titleist
golf ball, only tilly knows the answer to that.
I receive quite a lot of mail from golfers asking various questions on tilly-miss,
so I have highlighted some of the questions for you, which I hope you will enjoy
reading.
Bob from Durham :
Can you tell me how you trained tilly :
Tilly was trained at 6 weeks of age, as we live next to a golf course her very 1st
walk was in the woodlands, I picked up a golf ball and mischief as she was decided
it was her toy, the rest is history.
Andrew from Newcastle :
Would you consider breeding tilly-miss :
To late for that I am afraid tilly went under the knife at a very early age, my
wife was not happy for tilly to have any puppies, something she regrets now.
Lucy from Derby :
Is tilly ever naughty :
Sometimes tilly will not pickup a golf ball, and no coaxing or being really nice
makes any difference, if I tell her off for being naughty she runs up to me and
wants to start licking me, she will sit bye my side until I make a fuss of her and
all is forgiven.
Mike in Devon :
Have either of you have been hit by a ball :
Good question mike, I have been caught on the arm a couple of times and had some
real near misses, that could have been quite fatal, the only real problem tilly
has had was a dangerous encounter not so long ago with a family of deer, tilly was
on her usual being nosey routine in the ferns, when she has raised a young deer,
the mother and foal were quick to scarper, but the daddy who was huge and set on
sorting tilly out, I arrived to hear this yelping and could see a large beast with
antlers digging at tilly, it was over very quickly and a full inspection of tilly
revealed no damage or injury, just her pride in tatters.
Lady Golfer :
How many golf balls has tilly found :
Lady golfer that is very interesting, we have sent in excess of around 9000+ to
our golfing friends in Ireland, which caused quite a commotion at the customs check,I
opened the boot of the car to reveal bags and bags loaded in the boot, and the back
seats stuffed with balls galore, the customs were looking and bouncing them to see
if they would split and reveal any hidden treasure, there was something good to
come from that, there were a few golfers amongst them, so I gave them our web page
details and the following week another order arrived and was dispatched this time
through the post. We also send quantities to France, Spain, and Luxembourg along
with volumes in the UK, Scotland, and Wales, probably around 18000 so far, and what
gives me most pleasure in all of this is, we have not had one single complaint about
the quality of golf ball we post. ..........................................................................................................................
Every single transaction goes on tilly-miss, she must be looked after at all times,
food and vet checks are the priority, vaccine protection for keeping fleas and other
mites at bay cost money along with her other weekly vet charges. Tilly-miss is part
of my family and I wouldn't be without her, we look forward to many more happy days
in the future roaming the golf courses enjoying life.
